Dont mean to be Mr Picky but I thought I finished in front of Mr Bloy! Maybe I was dehydrated!!! Hi Peter, Laurence has gave you chip times. Peter Laing: Gun-39:39 Chip-39:36 Kevin Bloy: Gun-39:42 Chip-39:32 So you were over the line first but Kevin had the fastest chip time because he started behind you. CD

ok let me get this straight, from the gun you give it everything you've got & somehow the guy who finishes behind you beats you!!! Will just have to run a bit quicker next time !

Twas me that posted results - simply took them from Troon site and let excel sort by time. Seems the right way to measure it , time taken to cover 10K rather than who stood nearest the mat. ;D
Peter could have gone quicker and only slowed to ensure he snared the the Easter egg. Cheers for all the links Connell.

For what it's worth I think 'for championship purposes' it should be the position that counts. Chip timing is useful to record times but in proper championship races it is the race that counts and, hypothetically speaking, if anyone were to break a record it would be the gun time that would be used. Just throwing in my thruppence worth, feel free to shoot me down

Just throwing in my thruppence worth, feel free to shoot me down They are arguments for both. Prizewinners should be judged by Gun times as if you're not up the front, you have accepted you will probably not get a prize. A good example of this ia a race where the fastest runner was talking to the person standing behind him when the race started and although he had the fastest time, he was second finished so did not win the race as it was his fault that he wasn't ready. However, if you are in pens (especially allocated pens) then your time counts from chip time, as the size of the race (and the rules) make it impossible for everyone to start on the line. Each club had different rules but Killie uses chip time as it's fairer, at club level for big races.
