Hi All. Hope you all had a good Christmas. As most of you know I was struggling with a hamstring injury leading up to Christmas but thought it was just a niggle and even made it round the Turkey Trot (albeit very slowly!) Just as I thought it was starting to feel better I decided to try to play football yesterday. I knew it was risky but thought playing at half pace I'd still be able to keep up with the Kaisayr boys (eh Barry?) however I soon realised that I couldn't go anywhere near even a reasonable jog, never mind a sprint. Anyway, that made me realise that I should get it looked at so I went to the physio today and he told me not to run and gave me some exercises to do until next Tuesday. I'm hoping that next Tuesday he'll tell me that I can start jogging again but I think that's maybe a bit optimistic. Anyway, it looks like it'll be a wee while before I'm back at training but I'll keep you posted and might even pop down to say hello if I'm going to be out long-term as I know you'll all miss my banter! In the meantime - enjoy the sessions, I'll be thinking of you!

Sorry to hear that this is going to take longer to clear than you first thought. From my experiences over the last 3 years with this injury:
1. Listen to your physio and don't try and rush back too soon as the hamstrings will take their revenge. 2. When you are back running, keep stretching and getting a bit of massage every 3 or 4 weeks should prevent injury occurring again 3. When back running, if you feel sore hamstrings don't try and "run through the injury" as you will only make it worse, get some treatment at an early stage. 4. Give up the fitba'
Good luck

Yep, there's some burd who operates out of callaghans gym who seems to have the magic touch. She is the spitting image of Laura too, they could be twins.

Thanks for the advice Laurence and I will take points 1-3 on board, can't promise about the footy though! I've been a model patient with Andy Callaghan, doing my exercises twice a day as instructed for the first time ever! It seems to be working as I am now allowed to jog for 15 mins every other day. At this rate it'll be a while before I'm training properly but at least it's something and if I'm lucky I'll be back just in time for the weather getting better! Thanks also about your advice regarding the masseuse - I've heard she's 'no bad' so I'll probably give her a shout once I'm back running. Hope to see you and the gang soonish
