Hi there,
Up here in Troon all committee members are being encouraged to fill out the Disclosure Scotland forms to allow our criminal records to be checked (lest we molest children or vulnerable adults).
I know we're a pretty dissolute lot but I'm surprised that all committee members are expected to submit a form. It seems that anyone who could in anyway be described as a "club official" requires checking, rather than just those who coach or otherwise deal with children and vulnerable adults.
What's the position in Ayr? Same story or has this bit of bureaucracy yet to hit you?

Hi Tim,
I am not sure of the official position at the club. from the point of view of the club I can imagine why they would want it to happen. I can see an over zealous individual kicking up quite a stink if given an oppurtunity.
Its a crazy world we live in. Its a wonder that anybody volunteers. You could argue that if you have nothng to hide then whats the problem. feels a bit over the top to me though.
Kevan.

Stir up trouble? Moi? ;D
I just think Scottish Athletics have gone way over the top by asking every committee member to be vetted. If you're going to broaden it that far you really ought to vet *everybody* in the club (and take DNA samples and fingerprints while you're at it).
